An innovative and emotive concept

Charity Sightsavers asked us to develop a concept to raise awareness of the devastating impact of the eye disease trachoma, which painfully robs sufferers of their sight as they blink.  In a powerful evocation of the disease, award-winning photographers, including Nick Knight and the late David Goldblatt, captured an image of the last thing they would like to see before losing their sight. The photographs were exhibited digitally, with motion-capture cameras calculating the number of times visitors blinked in front of each artwork, which were gradually erased with each blink.

Award-winning results

A strong graphic identity complimented the digital displays. Graphics across the walls, floor and windows of the space featured split shadows and dynamic lines, which led visitors through the gallery and amongst the artworks. The exhibition won the Experiential Design Prize at The Drum Design Awards.
